New features will come soon to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia on the Internet: they are mostly small graphical touches that will increase usability and ease of changing items on the site.
In the month of April – the Wikimedia Foundation’s blog says – will make their appearance several innovations:
- a new style, called Vector, which will make it easier to find the essential functions of the editor pages and therefore making them easier to change, thanks to a new toolbar that allow you to insert links and tables
- simplification of the interface of the site, by repositioning the search bar, and eliminating certain old features that became obsolete over time, with an eye to accessibility
All things that for the eyes of many might appear obvious, but they aren’t. Editing articles of Wikipedia, in fact, is not as easy as you may think. To make detailed changes, you need to know the markup of MediaWiki, the software that runs Wikipedia and several other wiki sites in the world. Although it is not anything complicated, for novice users can be an obstacle that would prevent so many to work on the content of the free encyclopedia.

There are many people using the BitTorrent protocol to exchange files between them. Yes, because BitTorrent allows to download with a better speed and without queues like other P2P networks. Therefore, the number of users of BitTorrent is growing with an amazing speed.
Today we’ll quickly analyze the best torrent client for Mac OS X: they are so much, so we’ve selected only three of them.
Transmission
It’s a multi-platform client, it works on Mac and Linux. It is distinguished by its incredible lightness and integration with the system. It also has a daemon mode, which lets you run it without having to use a graphical interface, useful for downloading files without taking up much memory. It also supports the PeerGuardian security lists that are downloaded and updated automatically. It is opensource and is updated frequently. Recommended. You can download it from the official website.
uTorrent
uTorrent is a multi-platform client too, available for Windows and Mac OS X. It has an excellent engine therefore it can reach particularly impressive speeds. It’s a beta versione, but it’s very stable. uTorrent is the most popular BitTorrent client. It has very cool feature as priority mangement for bandwidth, downloads scheduling, support for RSS feeds and the DHT network. Downloadable free from the official website.
Azureus Vuze
Downlodable here, it is very heavy in terms of system requirements, but very focus on media features. In fact, it connects to Vuze, an opensource database of contents that you can download via the torrent network. If you only want to download files go away from there, but if you want to try something new it may be a good idea to try this program.

Symbian has finally become opensource. This announcement comes to us via a press release published on the official website of the company.
Symbian operating system is known for its use in the medium-high market Nokia smartphones. According to many people in recent years, especially after the arrival of the iPhone, has started its decline as it has not been updated to meet the needs of users: social networking, web browsing, speed of use, etc..
With this move, intended to make the community of developers who write applications for the platform wider: a little like Apple, that without its App Store would certainly not be able to sell so many iPhones.
Lee Williams, Executive Director of the Symbian Foundation, commented this news:
The development community is now empowered to shape the future of the mobile industry, and rapid innovation on a global scale will be the result. When the Symbian Foundation was created, we set the target of completing the open source release of the platform by mid-2010 and it’s because of the extraordinary commitment and dedication from our staff and our member companies that we’ve reached it well ahead of schedule.

In this post, I’ve written a list of the best free downloadable applications available on Cydia on your iPhone or iPod touch. Needless to say that you have to jailbreak your device to take advantage of these programs hated by Apple.
OpenSSH: allows you to connect your iPhone remotely using the FTP protocol, with desktop clients like Cyberduck (Mac) or WinSCP (Windows). consente di collegare l’iPhone in remoto via FTP, con programmi come Cyberduck (Mac) oppure WinSCP (Windows).
Cycorder: resolves one of the biggest problems in the iPhone 3G. Yes, this applications allows to make movies with a good resolution of 384×288 pixels. If you don’t own ad iPhone 3GS, this is good for you.
Winterboard: you can change the look and feel of your iPhone by downloading other themes from Cydia, and enabling them using Winterboard.
SBSettings: is a little app that adds a little window recallable by scrolling your finger on the status bar, which you’ll can use to:
- enable or disable quickly your Bluetooth, WiFi, Edge, 3G and SSH
- write some notes quickly using FastNotes
- look and close the opened applications with Processes
- respring, reboot and shutdown your iPhone with a click, sorry, a touch
PdaNet: using this application, you can make your iPhone became a wireless router sharing its 3G connection. Really useful sometimes

Vuze is a fantastic P2P application to download files using the BitTorrent network. To gain the best downloading speed, it’s fundamental to optimize its configuration. It’s very simple, you need only some little steps, and today, here on Gozzinet, we’ll explain how to do this.
STEP 1) Start the program, and go in Tools -> Options -> Mode, and set like in the following image: by doing this, we’ll have access to Advanced Mode which permits to edit the most important parts of the client configuration.
PASSO 2) Next, let’s go in Connection and edit the settings according to this image: obviously, the ports must be choosen according to your router configuration, we’ll assume that you’ve already cared about this.
STEP 3) This is the end, click on Transfers and, like you did before, set up according to the image, but attention, the maximum upload speed must be inserted by dividing by 12 the upload speed declared by your provider. For example: your connection has an upload speed of 1 Mbps, so 1000 / 12 = 83.
Once you’ve done, click on Apply to save the settings. Restart Vuze to be sure all it’s working.

Today, when we’re creating websites we use a lot the WordPress system. Wordpress is a very flaxible CMS, which allow us to create blogs and even other kind of websites. Today we’ll discover 5 free plugins that we can use to add new features to our website.
1. Featured Content Gallery – Even if you aren’t a webdesign guru, Featured Content Gallery is a really impressive plugin that you can use to show up easily images, posts or pages of your WordPress-powered website. It comes with a gorgeous graphic style, completely customizable using the control panel.
2. Popularity Contest – Your users will surely know which of your posts are the most popular, and which they should take a minute to read. Why don’t please them? This plugin is what you’re looking for. It automatically tracks the most viewed posts by counting the pageviews and it drives your users to these posts using a sidebar widget.
3. Viper’s Video Quicktags – Including videos in your posts is very easy if you use this plugin. You only have to insert the video URL and see it published. Viper supports the most important video sharing sites, link YouTube, Google Video, Vimeo and much more.

The last week has been released the new beta 1 of Ubuntu 9.10, one of the last steps before the release of this distribution.
We already know, thanks to this beta, what’s new in this version of Ubuntu. Let’s see.
The new version focuses about improvements that allow to improve the user experience principally, but there are so much interesting surprises even under the cover.
Yes, in fact the GNOME desktop has been updated to version 2.28, there’s a new version of AppArmor and UpStart has been finally implemented. UpStart is a software that permits to boot the system really faster, up to 26 seconds on my MacBook Pro!
It seems that folks at Canonical has understood that an operating system is succesful only if it is easy to use even for the users that don’t know how to use Linux. In fact, so much procedures has been semplified, like the installation of software.
In Ubuntu 9.10 we find the Software Store (where the name comes from?:)) that permits to install software form an easy to use catalog, like the iPhone’s App Store.
We find a new and clean user interface too.
Near to the clock we got new icons to check quicly the most importants aspects of our sysem, like networking, energy management, volume, notifies, web state, etc.
So, it is worth to upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10? Certainly yes. Like Snow Leopard has been for the Mac world, Ubuntu 9.10 is an exciting experince that will speed up your system, using new awesome technologies.

Today I’m writing a list of the best applications you can install in Ubuntu Linux, tested by me.
This applications list is very useful if you’ve installed Ubuntu into your PC and you don’t know which apps are the best to install.
Useless to say that they are all free applications that you can install easily using the Synaptic Package Manager, that is the besy way to install applications in APT-capable distributions like Ubuntu or Debian.
- VLC is probably the best audio/video player in the world. VLC supports tons of codecs and formats. It’s very light and easy to use, particulary on old computer with low performance.
- Freeciv is a clone of the famous Civilization strategic game, but it is opensource and it works even on old computers with slow graphics.
- Skype, the best VoIP applications available, on Linux too!
- Avant Window Navigator, it’s a sort-of Mac OS X’s Dock for Ubuntu. Very nice to see, needs to have Compiz running, so some old PCs may not run it fluidly.
- cGmail, it’s a little applet that stays in your GNOME panel near the clock, notifing you about incoming messages in your GMail inbox.
- Banshee, you are accustomed to the convenience of iTunes and can not stand the Rhythmbox playing queue and you want an alternative music jukebox? Banshee is a kind of clone of iTunes, check it, it’s very nice.
- Wifi-radar is an app that allows you to easily collect informations about nearby wireless networks and connect to them (if you’re intrested in wardriving it’s the choice for you )
- gPHPEdit, it’s a lightweight code editor supporting PHP/ HTML/JavaScript. A must-have for webmasters.
